The Rotary Riverwalk Project (Riverwalk) is a joint project of the Thiensville/Mequon Rotary Club and the Mequon/Thiensville Sunrise Rotary Club that, when complete, will create a 1.3 mile path along or near the Milwaukee River from Thiensville Village Park to Mequon Road. The Riverwalk Project was chosen in 2005 by local Rotarians to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Rotary International and its commitment to enhance healthy living in the communities it serves.
To date, three sections of the Riverwalk Project have been completed. The first section was the Thiensville Village Park segment and includes the Lover’s Lane path. The second section in downtown Thiensville at Molyneaux Park is named after a long-time village president. The Library Loop was installed in 2007 across from the Weyenberg Library in Mequon. Currently, two segments are a priority for the Rotary Clubs, the north Riverfront Park segment which extends the Library Loop, and the south Riverfront Park segment which extends to Mequon Road. When complete, the Riverwalk will connect Mequon and Thiensville and server as a bridge for the vibrant economic and recreational activities for both communities.
